Claude Monet was a French painter and one of the founders of French Impressionism. He was an express of expressing one's perception of nature, especially in his landscape works. The paintings above show fields of red poppies. Georgetown Texas has their Red Poppy Festival scheduled for October 23-25. I'm hoping that by then life will be back to somewhat normal by then. This weekend, I took a break from the house and drove through the hill country. I love spring time in Texas because that's when the Texas Wild Flowers bloom on Texas' highways. The Texas Wildflower program was started by former first lady and Texan, Lady Bird Johnson. She wanted to beautiful the roads of Texas with many beautiful flowers, like the Bluebonnet, Indian Paintbrush, Mexican Blanket, Purple Coneflowers, Black Eyed Susans, among many others...Today's lesson will be a mixed media landscape from me. I will be using oil pastels on watercolor paper to draw the beautiful flowers and then painting over them with watercolor. The oil pastels will protect the paper like a raincoat. This process is called Watercolor resist. Try not to use pencil this time. Just let the creativity flow through you. The facebook live video will be published here and then on your seesaw after three.
