Course Description
This course will help students further their understanding of the Elements of Art and the Principles of Design by using digital techniques and technological tools to create Two Dimensional and Three Dimensional Art.
Students will, generally, receive basic instruction, demonstration, and see samples of desired outcomes, at the beginning of each period. They will be expected to be able to replicate the guided practice, ask pertinent design questions, make "Happy Creative Mistakes", explore using different software and experiment based on what they are learning.

Learning Outcomes
To successfully complete this course, students must:
- Show up to class on time! Please plan accordingly. Missing class means missing time.
- Show up with a positive attitude! You may struggle at some point in class. Develop grit, stick with it and work the problem.
- Complete assignments by given deadlines
- Stay on task.
- Cooperate with other students and staff to increase learning potential.
- Think of your skill set. Push your limits, but don't bite off more than you can chew.
- Having fun and doing creative work is one thing. Don't be silly and have inappropriate themes.
- Upper School is taxing I know. Please keep conversations on topic. No Swearing or talking negatively about others.
- Take part in class room discussions

- Access to a digital camera (Your iPad, your phone, a compact Digital camera, or SLR Digital Cameras are acceptable)
- Adobe Creative Cloud
- Google Drive
- Gmail
- A USB portable storage device so you can take photos home.

- The Elements of Art
- The Principles of Design
- Basic Composition (Including the Rule of Thirds, Leading Lines, Framing Subjects, etc...)
- Special Photoshop Creative ideas involving layers.
- Special Adobe illustrator Creative ideas
- Variety of different animation using different techniques
- Famous traditional and digital art and artists appreciation and their significance.

GRADING POLICIES
Digital Media Assignments will be graded on their quality, creativeness, relevance to the assignment, and ability to communicate an idea or message.
The Digital Media iMovie/Power Point/Adobe Spark will be presented in class.
GRADING PLAN
Course work will be graded as follows.
1. Digital Assignments - 50%
2. Participation - 25%
3. Portfolio - 25%

GRADING SCALE
- Students are to handle all classroom equipment with care (including computers, cameras, iPads, lights, etc...)
- Cell phones will not be allowed in class (unless taking for photo taking purposes, emailing, google drive, etc..)
- Food and beverages are not permitted in the classroom at any time (unless it is the subject matter for a photo shoot)
- Class lab time is expected to be spent working on assignments or having classroom discussions about photography. Students will not be allowed to defer shooting photos or editing photos until a later time.
- Student work should be the original work of the student. Please do not copy and paste from tutorials found online.
