Course Description
Upper School Digital Media Art
Keystone School’s Upper School Digital Media Art is a year long, advanced digital graphic design course for students in Grades Ten through Twelve that meets every day for 50 minutes.
The course is divided into four nine week sections:

- Photomanipulation
- Illustration and Desktop Publishing
- 3D Modeling/Printing
- Video and Animation
Software/iPad Apps that we may use or discuss in class (But not limited to).

Learning Outcomes
To successfully complete this course, students must:
- Show up to class on time!. Please plan accordingly. Missing class means missing time.
- Show up with a positive attitude! You will struggle at some point in class. Develop grit and work the problem.
- Complete assignments by given deadlines
- Stay on task.
- Cooperate with other students and staff to increase learning potential.
- Think of your skill set. Push your limits, but don't bite off more than you can chew.
- Having fun and doing creative work is one thing. Don't be silly and have inappropriate themes.
- Take part in class room discussions

- A Computer - The lab will be open for you to use.
- Adobe Creative Cloud
- Google Drive
- Gmail
- A USB portable storage device so you can take photos home.

This course will cover the following topics:

- The Elements of Art
- The Principles of Design
- Basic Understanding of Composition (Including the Rule of Thirds, Leading Lines, Framing Subjects, etc...)
- Special Photoshop Creative ideas involving layers.
- Special Adobe illustrator Creative ideas
- Variety of different animation using different techniques
- Famous traditional and digital art and artists appreciation and their significance.

GRADING POLICIES
Digital Media Assignments will be graded on their quality, creativeness, relevance to the assignment, and ability to communicate an idea or message.
The Digital Media iMovie/Power Point/Adobe Spark will be presented in class.
GRADING PLAN
Course work will be graded as follows.
1. Digital Assignments - 50%
2. Write ups - 25%
2. Participation - 10%
3. Portfolio - 15%

GRADING SCALE
- Students are to handle all classroom equipment with care (including computers, cameras, iPads, lights, etc...)
- Cell phones - You can listen to music and you can take pictures or video. That's it. No texting. No Chatting. No emailing.
- Food and beverages are not permitted in the classroom at any time (unless it is the subject matter for a photo shoot)
- Class lab time is expected to be spent working on assignments or having classroom discussions that pertain the work.
- Student work should be the original work of the student. Please do not copy and paste from tutorials found online.
