7. Mary Cassatt Family Pet Portrait
Mary Cassatt (1844 - 1924) was an American painter and printmaker born in Pennsylvania, but lived most of her life in France. She was a pioneer for women in the art world because she was one of the first well known professional artists. She befriended famed artist Edgar Degas and had her art work with him and other famous Impressionists. Her paintings centered around children, mothers and their children, and animals. Since I've been working at home and seeing my daughter going to school at home, I've noticed how important our dogs have become in dealing with stress. We walk them. We hug them. We talk with them. We love them. Today, I'm going to be drawing my daughter with our two crazy dogs. So, if you have a dog, a cat, a chicken, a stuffed animal, or whatever that helps you get through the hard times, get them in the room and draw them. Draw one if you have one. Draw five if you have five. If you want to include yourself, your brother, sister or your mom or dad, do it. The choice is yours. I will be using oil pastels. You use whatever you like. I'll see you tomorrow at 1:00. Thanks.
