Introduction to Adobe Photoshop
Students are given an introduction to our first software program that allow us to manipulate photographs and create original pieces of digital art
Wednesday
Josef Albers
This is an introduction to the layers panel, rectangular marquee tool, fill tool, and the artistic elements of art: Color theory.
Thursday
Frank Stella
Students continue practicing the rectangular marquee tool as they become more familiar using the layers panel, while becoming familiar with Frank Stella's geometric work. Students also learn how to show the grid option.
Friday
Frank Stella Advanced
Students look at the circles and half circles, and color theory groupings.
Sonia DeLaunay
Students learn about the Frank Stella's protractor work along with the circular shaped pieces created by Robert and Sonia Delaunay. Students use the elliptical tool and selection tool to create abstract geometric creations.
There are many other artists you could use as inspiration for this lesson, such as Mark Rothko, Wassily Kandinsky, Jasper Johns, Piet Mondrian and Paul Klee to name a few. I've included a few of examples of their work on the assignment page for this week.

Week 2
Monday
How to make a Brush
Today we learn how to make a digital signature. These techniques can be used to make countless number of brushes.
Bling
Focus of the lesson includes layer styles: Gradient overlays, gradient overlays, creating a shadow, introducing the Gaussian blur filter. We'll have a guided practice and then the students will create their own version.
Tuesday
COLD
Brrr!!!! Baby it's cold outside. We are introduced to the smudge tool and creating the appearance of icicles. We use the flip vertical transformation and the distort/skew feature
Wednesday
FIRE
Use of the smudge tools to give off the appearance of fire is the primary focus of this lesson.

Students learn how to create a timeline and how to put layers in order to create their first animation.

Vintage Retro Post Cards
The focus of this project is to have images behind each of the letters. Students use a clipping mask to create an image behind letters. Focus on a drop shadow, stroke, and ordering of layers in the layer window.
Wednesday

with an Object Similar to the postcard but instead of letters and words, we use objects to create the clipping mask.
Thursday
STITCHES
Today's lesson will focus on paths and filling them with a brush. We'll download a brush and upload a brush.

Introduction to groups and how photoshop can work with Adobe Character.
Friday
Create a simple emoji to get used to the Character platform. The focus will be on eyes, eyebrows and the mouth.
