George Rodrigue started out as just your run of the mill Louisiana painter, who painted the swamp, moss on trees, and a cemetery. That is until one day, he was asked to paint the New Orleans' Ghost story, Loup-Garou...A Cajun Werewolf. Rodrigue came up with a haunted portrait of his own dog, Tiffany, but added a zombie like blue fur and yellow eyes. He painted it the same way every time, but changed the setting. And by doing just that, the dog became an iconic symbol of the state of Louisiana. As I heard about how the virus has hit New Orleans and the state of Louisiana hard, I think of George Rodrigue and his Blue Dog. Today, we will paint his famous dog in locations that symbolize the situation in America today. Maybe include the Blue dog in a house or doing school work at home or maybe in a hospital helping people or a blue dog with gloves and a mask. You could also imagine your Blue Dog on a beach with a fruity drink with an umbrella and a long straw...Right below you see the painting Rodrigue did after Hurricane Katrina.
These are photos I took in front of Rodrigue's gallery in Monterrey California and in front of a sculpture at the New Orleans Museum of Art.
