If you've seen my Facebook Live or my video you've seen me dressed up with a wig and all decked out in blue. That is the the look made famous by famous TV Artist, Bob Ross. He was known for his Big Brown Fluffy hair and his catch phrase #HappyTrees. I want to thank Jacob and Hannah for giving me the idea. Y'all are the best!!! Happy Trees is the inspiration for today's lesson. I did this lesson for the first time last year and couldn't have been more pleased wit the results. In fact, we had many kids submit their pieces into the permanent collection competition. So, be prepared to create greatness today!!
Wolf Kahn's Happy Trees
Wolf Kahn is one of my favorite artists. Unfortunately, he passed away two weeks agao. I use his work as inspiration today to celebrate his life and his work. His mixed media compositions are beautiful and complex. He uses non-traditional colors for to create a "curtain" of trees against beautiful skies of blue, pink and yellow. Think about what art supplies and really try to think about looking at things in a different light or in this case color. Look below at some of he wonderful pieces of work below. I will be using oil pastels to create the vertical lines to form the trees. We will use water colors to create the backdrop in a water color resist and then acrylic paint to add the leaves of the "Happy Trees".
